I've compiled information and organized a
calendar to track meal planning for Linda and Joe during Linda's recovery.
As far as foods
they would like, chili is good, along with chicken and turkey dishes. (Keep the
pork to a minimum, as it adversely affects her joints.)
Linda has
mentioned that she's up for exotic foods like Poi, or perhaps Korean. She does
enjoy Aladdin's spinach meat pies, tabbouleh and hummus. She and Joe also really
like Italian Creations'
pizza, especially the Chicago double-crust pizza with spinach and Italian
sausage.
Linda is flexible and says that whatever is
easiest for us will work for her; frozen, ready to bake or just reheat are all
fine by her. She is limited on fridge and freezer space, so it might be a good
idea to call ahead and make sure she has room if you're taking two meals over at
one time. Please prepare enough food for two; a little left over is fine for a
lunch or extra dinner. Joe has stated
that he will take care of Easter dinner both of them -- so I guess Mary Jo, Kay
and I are "off the hook." Perhaps we can call to see if they need anything
additional.
Linda and Joe do not
like lima beans or cooked blueberries (e.g., blueberry muffins) so please avoid
preparing those foods.
MEAL
SCHEDULE
Linda has indicated that she will need dinners three to
four times per week for approximately four weeks. If we break that down, that is
approximately two meals per week per sister. I have enclosed a hard copy of the
calendar so you can confirm your dates, or you can view the calendar
online by clicking here. If you will be out of town or unable to prepare a
meal on your scheduled day, please make arrangements for someone to switch with
you and let me know so that I can update the calendar.
